11 year old Sophie Harrison is a natural comedian who can't help making everyone laugh; usually at the expense of the teachers or 'The Popular Girls', a group at school who have everything girls could want but who make Sophie's life hell.

Too funny for her own good, they put her down every chance they get. If only she had a friend to scare her tormentors! One night in a dream she meets a monster named Taboo. He promises to help but there's a catch - there always is with monsters. She has to help him escape from the world of dreams which monsters control, into the safety of the real world. Some people have an angel to watch over them. Sophie has a monster who is on the run from the other monsters because he is not scary enough.

Taboo becomes her imaginary friend but Taboo thinks that Sophie is his imaginary friend ... so who is imagining who? And which world is real? And, some of Sophie's friends have been having strange dreams about monsters too. During a sleepover at Sophie's house the party is gate-crashed by some very monstrous guests indeed!

Hi, my name’s June Mc Carthy. I’m 12 years old and I’m … wait for it… AVERAGE!!! Average height! Average weight! Average width! Average length! Average grade! Average everything!

Is there anything worse than being average! I wish there was something unusual, or even weird, about me. Even a big nose, or outta control hair, or lanky legs, or bizarre clothes, or a mean stare! I mean, everyone has their own specialty. Take my friend, Mary. On a good day, she can stuff two bags of Skittles into her mouth - at the one time! Now, that’s talent! But me? I just can’t seem to find that special quirk that’d give me my passport out of averageville. And, I’m nearly 13! Oh brother! Maybe I’m just not ready for this brave new world that awaits me.

Or maybe, the world’s just not ready for me yet….

In Forest Kingdom, an extremely wise owl, called AT, is in charge of air traffic control. You need air traffic control when you’re a bird. If you’ve no air traffic control then you better be wearing a helmet.

AT delivers his hourly bulletins on Cloud 9 News and controls all flights in and out of the Kingdom. So when AT disappears and all the birds find themselves grounded, it’s as if the sky itself has been stolen…

Solving the mystery of AT’s disappearance is a job for Detective Jack Daw of Special Branch but he soon realizes that he’s going to need help - which arrives in the very unlikely shape of young Christopher Sparrow. Christopher’s enthusiasm for the job more than makes up for the fact that he spends most of his time either daydreaming about the pictures he sees in the cloud shapes above him or getting into trouble!
